Laid-back French elegance and plenty of space. That’s Sofitel Kurfürstendamm in Berlin - ideal for those looking for chic accommodation close to everything in a city that never sleeps.

Contemporary elegance

Back in September, I had the pleasure of staying at Sofitel Kurfürstendamm for the second time. The hotel is located on a quiet street facing the busy Kurfürstendamm in the very heart of Berlin - and it’s an ideal location if you want to explore the city.
When you step inside, you’ll immediately get caught up by the relaxed atmosphere, for which Sofitel is so famous. It’s both elegant and laid-back - something that appeals to both families and business travelers.

Happy to be back at Sofitel!

The most spectacular about the hotel is probably its exterior - an impressive art deco building by Jan Kleihues overlooking Ku’damm. Inside, one will find 44 suites as well as a wide range of luxury and superior rooms. Both times, I stayed in a Superior Room - not flamboyant in any way, but discreet with contemporary art on the walls. A Superior Room has a king size bed, separate marble bathroom and a working space. For those in need of a little more luxury: check in to a Junior, Prestige or Opera Suite and gain free access to the 11th floor (Executive Floor) offering free drinks and snacks all day.

From breakfast to cocktails

Having stayed at Sofitel Kurfürstendamm twice, it’s easy for me to pinpoint my favorite features of the hotel. One of them is definitely the continental breakfast served in the restaurant ‘St. Germain’. I could spend hours indulging in the wide selection of breads, pastries, fruits etc. accompanied by a good cup of coffee and a newspaper. The service is definitely above average and there’s practically nothing you can’t get as a guest. That’s the feeling you get - and that’s the way it’s supposed to be. The hotel  has another restaurant, Le Faubourg, serving French cuisine with an international touch. And there are 150 wines on the menu!

Last, but not least, Sofitel Kurfürstendamm offers a small spa with a sauna and a steam bath, and it’s also possible to book a massage. There might be more extensive hotel spa’s in Berlin, but this is just about what you need after a long day of exploring the city.

A warm welcome at Sofitel Kurfürstendamm!
