A weekend at the farmhouse

The coastal city of Kristianstad was founded by the Danish King Christian IV back in 1614, when the area was still a part of Denmark. Today, the city is an ode to the Renaissance era with its many beautiful houses and squares. Guests will also find one of Sweden’s best preserved Medieval towns in the city center and, of course, several charming hotels. One of these are Tomarp Gårdshotell - an old farmhouse dating back to the 18th Century. If there’s a place one can go for total relaxation and peace of mind, it has to be here! The farmhouse is located in an idyllic scenery with no noise or disturbing elements. If you’re looking for high-tech equipment and spa facilities, Tomarp is probably not the place for you, but it’s the perfect getaway if you’re longing for peaceful surroundings, stunning nature and not least great food! The restaurant of the hotel is well known for serving high quality food made of fresh, local ingredients, and everything else is authentic too. Secret Escapes is currently running a campaign on this magical place, where you can really sense the presence of history.

City break in Malmö

Malmö is an ideal weekend destination due to its buzzing city life with great shopping and plenty of things to do. Gamla stan (the old part of the city) offers many charming cafes and restaurants, while the lust for shopping can be satisfied on the popular street Södergatan. One of Sweden’s oldest and most recognized hotels is also located in the city center, just opposite the central station. Elite Hotel Savoy is still the ideal city hotel, where you can relax in the wellness area after a long day in the city. Or what about a visit to the hotel’s own Irish pub, The Bishop’s Arms, where you can get your hands on a real ale?
Malmö is located just half an hour’s drive from Copenhagen.

Charming farmhouse with Italian influences

Just 4 km from the city Trelleborg, in serene natural surroundings, one will find the beautiful old farm Idala GårdThe place has been owned by the same family since 1635 and today it’s just as idyllic as it was back then. Today, the farm is a hotel with strong Italian influences, for example in the restaurant, which serves delicious delicacies from the Mediterranean kitchen. There’s also a cosy café and a wine bar with a selection of Italian wine, and thirsty guests can buy a bottle or two in the farm’s own wine shop. Did we forget to mention the outdoor swimming pool? This is an ideal weekend destination if you want a piece of Scandinavian culture mixed with the pleasures of Italian food and wine. The area surrounding the hotel is well known for its beauty and it’s recommend to rent a bicycle to explore it.
